Saw scaled viper

Echis carinatus

Description:

It was a long wait to see a living saw scaled viper from this location. It was a 3 year wait. I had seen 2 road killed specimens, one each year and one year went without spotting any. Finally beginning of this year, I was fortunate enough to see a live saw scaled viper in one of the night walks. It is a deadly snake, one of the fastest striking snakes in the world. One shouldn't underestimate its capability just by its size.
