Description:

California State Bird. Left photo is a male and the right photo is a female. Black bib and cap with white, curved crest on the male and a short top not on the female. Male is mostly brown, dark blue grey with white markings on the wings. Female is mostly brown with the whit markings.

Habitat:

Open woodlands, shrubby areas.

Notes:

spotted on a fire trail in Lime Ridge Concord.
