Description:

The leaves are simple, long stalked, the stalks wrapping around each other to form a tubular false stem. The inflorescence is compound, on a stem that grows from the center of the leaves. Each flower has a colored, boat shaped brach below. Individual flowers are asymmetric, based on a plan of three.
