Horse mushroom

Agaricus arvensis

Description:

Mushrooms with caps about 75mm wide. Caps had pale brown scaly growth, more dome shaped in the centre flattening out towards the margin. Stipe was white with a two layered distinct ring, the lower layer had a cogwheel-like appearance which is a distinguishing feature for this species. Gills were a dark brown.

Habitat:

Spotted a cluster growing on a grassy verge
