Melangyna viridiceps

Melangyna viridiceps

Description:

A common Australian hoverfly. About 12mm long with a very flat, black and yellow banded abdomen.

Habitat:

Ubiquitous. Always searching for flowers.

Notes:

These creatures are very difficult to capture in summer because they are so busy. As it is winter here the fly gave me a better opportunity by resting longer (maybe an effect of the cold?).
