Spider lily

Hymenocallis littoralis

Description:

Bulbous herb with strap shaped leaves, parallel veined, 3 ft. long or more by 2 1/2 in. wide, with parallel edges. Flowers are clustered, showy white, 6 parted,with very narrow spreading petal lobes, each to 6 in. long, and a small white cup at the center.

Habitat:

Grassy hilltop on a small island in Christiansted Harbor.

Very nice.

We have similar lilies making an appearance now at the onset of our monsoon season here in India.
