Description:

A beautiful large white mushroom with irregular domed pileus, umbo and nodular near centre; gills creamy white densely packed; stipe thick, white, some ring shards.... Width up to 240mm; height 200mm

Habitat:

Suburban; wide highway division; planted with local native vegetation including mature eucalyptus

Notes:

Not 100% happy with this ID. Features match most other pictures and descriptions with the exception of size and cap shape.

Visually good type match with Amanita lepidella. Big problem with sizes. Limited Aust. species to check.

Hi! I think it is an Amanita member from the Lepidella section. This group of Amanita's contains the big, white types, lacking a volva, but having a bulbous and scally base. Look for more info at: http://pluto.njcc.com/~ret/amanita/sectl....
