Description:

A beautiful large white mushroom with irregular domed pileus, umbo and nodular near centre; gills creamy white densely packed; stipe thick, white, some ring shards.... Width up to 400mm; height 260mm

Habitat:

Suburban; wide highway division; planted with local native vegetation including mature eucalyptus

Notes:

Looked at Tricholoma Eucalypticum - not happy. Amanita... Lepidella sp. http://www.rbg.vic.gov.au/dbpages/cat/in...

Visually good type match with Amanita lepidella. Big problem with sizes. Limited Aust. species to check.

Hi! I think it is an Amanita member from the Lepidella section. This group of Amanita's contains the big, white types, lacking a volva, but having a bulbous and scally base. Look for more info at: http://pluto.njcc.com/~ret/amanita/sectl....
