Powderpuff or Prairie Mimosa Seed Pods

Mimosa strigillosa

Description:

The name Powderpuff refers to the small spherical flowers that rise above the plant's creeping vines. Like related species in the Mimosa genus it has sensitive leaves that can fold in a matter of seconds after being disturbed.

Habitat:

Riparian meadow.

Notes:

Catclaw Sensitive Briar has long slender rounded pods covered with prickles.
