Aporocera haematodes
Very dark/reddish brown , body exposed ander wings , dark markings can just be seen on the head.
Hanging out with other leaf beetle species , only one of its kind - really thick long grass , and new growth eucalypt.

That looks good. Here's the ref link update "https://sites.google.com/site/insectsoftaschrysomeloidea/suborder-polyphaga/chrysomelidae-leaf-beetles/subfamily-cryptocephalinae/genus-aporocera/aporocera-aporocera-haematodes"
Updated ID today ...TonyT (insects of Tas) confirmed - Aporocera haematodes not Cadmus fasciaticollis
Hahaha i think "google" sometimes just does what it wants :)
Sorry my mistake. I searched your name before and got a species only in the Americas. Not sure why... maybe google did that annoying thing about 'No you really meant this"
Just looks different to me , this was definitely glossy , crucicollis , looks more heavily grooved and powdered and the head more black ...this one was same colour , on the tip(head) ?
Cadmus looks good but maybe Cadmus crucicollis? http://bie.ala.org.au/species/Cadmus+%28...
