It looks like a bracket fungus lol... I am confus.

It is very firm in texture. I added a photo of the underside. It has a substantial stem.

I THINK a bit will have to be cut off so we can see the underside, stem (if it has one) and what it's growing on. I'm not sure though, maybe an expert will come along and know straight off...!

What was the texture like? Could it be a slime mold?

Yes it does look like a cauliflower...that someone stepped on. It is growing on the grass of a neighbor's lawn, underneath a tree. There is another patch nearby. There is fungi growing on the tree but it looks very different. I posted a spotting of that, too.

That's interesting...! It looks like a cauliflower haha! Do you know what it was growing on and what the underside looks like?
