Gallinula galeata
Slaty colored with browner back and white stripe along side. Thick bill and frontal shield usually red and yellow. Legs greenish. Immature paler grey with dull bill and legs, but shows white stripe on side.
Pond thickly covered in pond plants.
The pond plants were so thick the young moorhens could walk on top of them.
Common Moorhen and Gallinule were split into two species, based on geographical and physical differences.
The Common Moorhen inhabits the Old World (Europe, Asia, etc.) and the Common Gallinule inhabits the New World (America, Mexico, etc.).
