Wood Stork

Mycteria americana

Description:

7 wood storks and 6 roseate spoonbills sighted along the St Johns river where the Econ empties into it.

Habitat:

Grassland along the St Johns River. This area does flood but it was mostly dry today. We saw plenty of cattle nearby which would explain why the grass is so short here.

Notes:

It might be the birds found a patch of flooded grass back there that had frogs or some other type of food. It was a hot afternoon.
