Roseate Spoonbill

Ajaia ajaja

Description:

6 roseate spoonbills hanging out with 7 wood storks near the St Johns River. The ground was only slightly damp where they were standing so I don't think they were feeding on anything.

Habitat:

Flood plain of the St Johns River. Free range cattle keep the grass pretty short. The River is not in it's flood stage right now.

Notes:

We also saw quite a few vultures and juvenile bald eagles in this area as well as numerous alligators and three river otters.
