House finch(?)

Description:

Four (I think) chicks in a nest daubed with feces around the ring. Mama only spotted from afar but was brownish and small. These chicks are brown and grey, with tannish stripes on head. Some mottling on bodies.

Habitat:

Northeastern Connecticut. Nest of twigs and branches and feces.

Notes:

Nest is wedged behind the lamp on front porch.

The nest resembles a House Finch nest (Carpodacus mexicanus).
