Description:

Perennial, 2' tall, bering umbel of irregular violet flowers on axillary stalk often shorter than leaves on smooth stem with pinnate leaves. Flower 5/8" long, corolla 2-lipped, upper lip broad and oval, lower lip of 2 fused lanceolate lobes forming keel with curved tip, and lateral lobes incurved. Green calyx tube broad, three-toothed. Stamens 10. Ovary superior, 1 pistil. Flowers between June and September. (per Paul and Marilyn Mahlberg)
