Asian Brown Flycatcher

Muscicapa dauurica

Description:

A non-descript bird...will be mistaken at casual glance with female house sparrow but is larger and has a rounded head. Bright black eyes. Front is lighter in colour, wings are brown.

Habitat:

This Polyalthia longifolia tree is juts outside the boundary wall of my house. These days when I go to my rooftop terrace to put out seeds and breadcrumbs for birds, I hear these migratory birds. They sound more like a creaking door or a cricket singing. Very rarely do I see these birds in the open. Today I got lucky. I could photograph a pair.
