Variegated Fairy-wren (male)

Malurus lamberti Race lamberti

Description:

Such a tiny little bird with bright metallic blue on the crown & mantle. I was unable to get a good shot, he just wouldn't stay still for a minute. This is the first time I've seen one of these wrens & I'm so thrilled, as I love the blues.

Habitat:

Found throughout Australia, Race lamberti are found in heathland, open forest & coastal ranges of Eastern Australia.

Notes:

Hunter Region Botanic Gardens
