Description:

Family: Nymphalidae. Subfamily: Danainae. Male. One dark spot on each wing. A milkweed butterfly. Wingspan: 3 1/2 - 4 inches, 8.9 - 10.2 cm. Adults feed on nectar of various plants and flowers such as milkweed, asters, goldenrod.

Habitat:

Meadow in the Poconos, PA
