Lousewort

Pedicularis sp.

Description:

Purple flower with hairy leaves and stem. A species of Lousewort I think

Habitat:

Growing in dense vegetation along a mountain trail (Old Women's Mountain). Kodiak receives heavy rainfall, and the soil is great because the area on the top of the mountain has been mostly left undisturbed since a volcanic eruption years ago on another island left a layer of ash.
