Hi Desmond, the full name in English is Moorhen, Only the Americans have added the word "Common" to everything because the early settlers gave the same names to different species in America thinking they were the same. Your're correct, this is a moorhen but to make it a complete spotting you can add the full name: Common moorhen and the scientific name (Gallinula chloropus). Nice photos!
