Velvet Mite

Description:

While looking at some Liverwort on a hillside, I saw a tiny red dot about 3 mm long moving around. I was surprised to see this guy in my viewfinder after photographing. This one doesn't look soft and fuzzy like other images of Velvet Mites. This one has what appear to be nobs all over.

Habitat:

Riparian hillside in Liverwort and grasses under Currant and Oak.

Notes:

Trombidiidae Family (True Velvet Mites)

Thanks! This little one was tricky to photograph. Most of my images were overexposed with the flash but I was able to get these :) I'm so happy I've finally spotted one.
