Indigo bunting

Passerina cyanea

Description:

This pair of gorgeous Indigo buntings were in my yard yesterday! It's my very first sighting of this species so I'm posting the only photo I managed to snap before they flew away, even though it's not a great shot. Hopefully they will be back & I can replace this with some better photos of these beauties!

Habitat:

Semi rural wildlife habitat.

Yes Claire, I was very excited to see them! Shame about the dead tupelo tree though - I've been watering all the trees I planted last year but I have suffered a few casualties in the drought.
