Description:

in the aster family; plant about 3 feet tall, flower about 2 inches yellow and red-brown with drooping rays and long central disk that looks like a sombrero thus the name Mexican Hat blooms in July in NC; prolific bloomer; plant branched and leafy in lower part with long leafless stalks bearing flower heads;Leaves on the lower portion of the stem are feathery and deeply cleft.
