Habrosyne scripta
A strikingly colored combination of browns, grays, white and hints of pink. Distinguished from the Glorious Habrosyne (Habrosyne gloriosa) by its smoother AM line. In H. gloriosa, the AM line forms a 90° angle. Definitely one of my most treasured finds, and one of most amazing moths in North America. A member of the Drepanidae family, subfamily Thyatirinae (called False Owlet Moths, for their resemblance to members of the Noctuidae family).
Early successional deciduous forests and old growth conifer plantations. Purple-flowering Raspberry (Rubus odoratus) was common here, and is a noted host for this species.
Another common name is the Lettered Habrosyne. Found while staying at the Ordway House, at the Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station. National Moth Week 2015.
