Agrilus acutus
Peacock blue coloured beetles...such a vivid colour.
We were driving back from Chandannagar, an erstwhile French colony (22.8700° N, 88.3800° E) near Kolkata, West Bengal. We stopped by this pair of large ponds near a village hoping to see some birds when I spotted these brilliantly coloured insects gobbling up this yellow flower.
I would love an ID ...I have never seen such lovely blue coloured insects before .
I cannot thank you enough, thaptor. I really wanted to know the name...and now, I do.
I know you, Leuba :)
Thanks a PILE...I will do some researching now. I did find 2 matches on Google but no ID unfortunately. Needed to be pointed in the right direction and you have given me so much more than a compass...THANK YOU.
I am not bayucca but ythought this might help. You could check Agrilus species. Agrilus sapphirinus has pointy apices. Might need to check A.muscarius as well. Both found in India/Indo-China region.
These are beautiful Sukanya. Exactly the same as the one in this blog

Unfortunately, the author does not have an ID either. It is important to make note of the smudged white marks on the elytra (towards the apices) and the tapering shape of each elytron ( wing cover). The eyes are also extremely large.
