Description:

Rich dark brown butterfly with white spots on the black body and in the black wing margins.

Habitat:

Garden with plants chosen to attract wildlife.

Notes:

These Queens were visiting heliotrope and eupatorium. As with other milkweed butterflies, male Queens seek out particular types of flowers (such as ageratum, eupatorium, and heliotrope) to obtain certain alkaloids that they require for breeding.
