yellow foot or winter chanterelle

cantharellus ignicolor

Description:

Yellow foot or winter chanterelle is commonly found in small clusters during the months of January and February in our area. Finding them in July is a bit odd, although the patch of shaggy parasols in my yard have been putting up a few mushrooms when the weather shifts, as the coastal strip has been exceptionally cool the past three summers

Habitat:

coastal rainforest

Notes:

I have not seen these during the summer before. The last two were taken at home, as my husband had the foresight to pick a couple.
