Pieris napi britannica
hoping this is a black-veined white! Oh well, at least it's a female green-veined white. First spotting of a female!
0° will be here on almost 5000 m! So, the higher the better. Do not forget a sunblocker! Take care and enjoy!
Wow... absolutely gorgeous! i'll be in the mountains around Andora, so the best of luck to both of us in the mountains...
Me too! I am going to this place this weekend, hope to find some nice butterflies!

thanks bayucca, i corrected the scientific name. Still looking for the black-veined white! Off to Northern Spain again tomorrow, hopefully there will be more butterflies there than there are here in Southern Ireland!
Interesting... In the last spotting here, it seems like an oriface at the end of the body is open... presumably this is where mating takes place. Never seen that before!
Maria is correct. The Black-veined White is also on the UK website. Sorry it was not the one you were looking for; but a very nice series. Your usual great work:)
thanks Maria, I guess the black-veined doesn't have a spot. But it looked different flying past. Oh, Gartorfellows has just ID'd it as a female. The other ones I saw were male I think. That might explain the difference. Thanks for the ID.
I'd say it's green-veined white butterfly. Here is additional link. http://www.ukbutterflies.co.uk/species.p...
