thanks bayucca, i corrected the scientific name. Still looking for the black-veined white! Off to Northern Spain again tomorrow, hopefully there will be more butterflies there than there are here in Southern Ireland!

Interesting... In the last spotting here, it seems like an oriface at the end of the body is open... presumably this is where mating takes place. Never seen that before!

Maria is correct. The Black-veined White is also on the UK website. Sorry it was not the one you were looking for; but a very nice series. Your usual great work:)

thanks Maria, I guess the black-veined doesn't have a spot. But it looked different flying past. Oh, Gartorfellows has just ID'd it as a female. The other ones I saw were male I think. That might explain the difference. Thanks for the ID.
