Roughly 10-12 millimeters in body length, colored as shown. Note yellow face and long, hooked antennae that are male characteristics.
Wasp was taking nectar from a lone, blooming saltcedar tree (Tamarix sp.) in a vast open field of degraded shortgrass prairie with sunflower, yucca, and scattered elm trees.
