Northern Crested Caracara

Description:

Medium-sized eagle with a white neck, black body and wing feathers with a black-and-white checker pattern where the white and black meet. The head is mostly white with a black cap, and it has a yellow beak with a blue-gray tip.

Habitat:

These eagles live at an abandoned zoo outside of León, Nicaragua. The cage is shaded but does not allow for anything resembling flight. Thankfully there are volunteers who come to feed and check on the health of these animals.
