Chicken of the Woods

Laetiporus sp.

Habitat:

some species are limited to the wood of conifers, while others appear on the wood of hardwoods; some species can be parasitic, but most are decomposers of dead wood; they cause a brown rot of the wood of both conifers and hardwoods.

Notes:

This polypore was found on fallen log of unknown tree species. I'm guessing it is a Laetiporus sp.of some type. Further ID or correction would be appreciated.
