False Crocus Geometer

Xanthotype urticaria

Description:

The False Crocus Geometer is distinguished by other similar species of moths by the scattered brown spots. This poor specimen had lost its right hindwing, apparently due to a close encounter with a predator.

Notes:

Very difficult to photograph, as it seemed to have endless bounds of energy, stopping only for fractions of time before flying away again.
