Grevillea

Description:

This wild grevillea was spotted in the D'Aguilar Range near Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Grevillea is a diverse genus of about 360 species of flowering plants in the family Proteaceae, native to Australia, New Guinea, New Caledonia, and Sulawesi.

Habitat:

Subtropical rainforest.

Notes:

Birds and larvae do love grevilleas. The first grevilleas collected in Australia were amongst the collections made by Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander who arrived on Captain Cook’s ship the ‘Endeavour’ in Botany Bay, Sydney, on 28th April 1770
