Long crab spider

Runcinia acuminata

Description:

An elongated spider with delicate striped pattern and long forelegs poised for attack.

Habitat:

Several found on the blossoms of wild carrot (Daucus carota) or Queen Annes Lace, a common roadside weed plant. It is a good hunting ground on sunny days when the flowers attract many insects.

Lots of Queen Anne's lace around now.
They are a good hunting ground, as these spiders will testify.

Nice abdominal colours on this one. I haven't noticed Queen Anne's Lace around yet - must go walkabout.
