Polystichum acrostichoides
Young frond among last year’s evergreen fronds; approximately 12 inches tall; mature fronds approximately 18 inches long. Pinnae oblong-lanceolate and short-stalked, margins bristle-toothed; d distinctive lobe on pinna's upper side. Scales dense, light brown. Fiddleheads scaly and stout, with silvery white scales; arching backward before fully opening.
Growing on ledge above year-round drainage to the Appalachee River.
