Description:

It is a small but attractive butterfly and when fresh, it has a beautiful purple sheen. It is dull purple on the upper side with a lighter and somewhat whitish line on the dorsum and tornal area of the hind wing. It has a long tail which is white. The underside is silvery white, except for faint black wavy lines on the post discal area of the hind wing and two black tornal spots bordering the tail.

Habitat:

It is not very common but are found mainly at the interface between wet and dry zone and in the low country wet zones up to about 2000 feet. It is encountered in numbers around rills and streams.

Notes:

It is shy and has a self conscious flight. it is seen flying at the canopy of trees. When threatened they fly in to the dense vegetation and will not emerge until making sure that the danger has passed. Several are usually seen flying together.
