Crimson Rose (female)

Pachliopta hector

Description:

Crimson Rose (Pachliopta hector) is a large swallowtail butterfly belonging to the genus Pachliopta (Roses) of the Red-bodied Swallowtails. They nectar avidly at wild and cultivated flowers, while constantly fluttering their wings to maintain their position. This very ragged female missed the 2 males that were in my garden a couple of days ago. Looks like she's been around for a while!

Notes:

The butterflies love to nectar on this Yellow-Vein Eranthemum.
