Red-tailed Hawk

Buteo jamaicensis

Description:

A large hawk. Most are rich brown above and pale below, with a streaked belly and, on the wing underside, a dark bar between shoulder and wrist. The tail is usually pale below and cinnamon-red above, though in young birds it’s brown and banded.

Habitat:

In a tree near commercial development with greenbelts and golf course.

Yes it is bigger. It was content to teeter on small branches to get this good hunting spot. Mice had been driven into a small strip by construction of a large senior living center. Easy hunting :)
