While visiting the Silver River in Silver Springs, Florida, a bald eagle flew across the river and landed high up in a tree. Love spotting birds in their natural habitat. The bald eagle is our nation's symbol and is a year-round resident found throughout Florida. In late spring many of Florida's eagles head north and return in the fall. From late fall to spring, it is estimated that more than 1,100 pairs of this magnificent raptor breed in Florida. Bald Eagles will reuse the same nest each year; nests are typically built in a tall pine tree near water, but oaks are sometimes used.
