Eupoecila australasiae
A bright brown cetonid beetle with narrow green lines in a delicate pattern resembling a violin.
This very alert beetle was one of few insects around on a cold day feeding on tea tree.
Cetonids can launch into flight almost instantly as they lift their elytra slightly and wings are opened on a horizontal plane. It gave me time for only two shots. These lines seem green while the previous spotting has more yellow colors. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/771...

Thanks Shanna, they do fly very quickly.
Thanks Reiko, thanks Maria
Beautiful pattern!
Very nice.
Awesome stuff, Martin! I found a similar one (not sure if it was the same) a few weeks ago in my garden. I was so excited, it was so BRIGHT, but it got away before I could get a pic!
Thanks Jem, pam, leuba, saumya and mark.
I hadn't noticed the 'M' tattoo on its bum before this one but its because he was already in departure mode. The head is not so easy to shoot.
My other spotting shows the head but I will get another one for you this summer.
Sure makes me want to see the face.
It is just like an art work ! Stunning !
What a beauty !
wow, beautiful...
Quite a piece of art. Fantastic!
