Jewel beetle

Castiarina octomaculata

Description:

A jewel beetle mimicking the 20 spotted ladybird beetle. Found on flowering tea tree but it wouldn't pose so I took a single shot then put it on another flower (Diosma) for some better shots.

Notes:

I found 20 Castarina in five species. This was the only sexmaculata. They were all on only two shrubs of about 200 that I walked past and they had selected possibly the stronger flowering specimens, clearly attracted to nectar fragrance.
