Description:

The Cattle egret is a small white heron that is often associated with grazing cattle. Sexes are similar with males being larger. During the breeding season, adults develop orange-buff plumes on the back, breast, and crown.

Habitat:

Spotted at the Lacassine NWR in southern Louisiana.

Notes:

Cattle egrets have a wide variety of prey including insects and small animals.
