Yes the whole family are highly variable and most work is yet to be done in Australia. I've been backing many of mine up to family level lately. :(
Looks quite similar but the species seems so variable its difficult to be sure.
Araneus hamiltoni might be a good match. They vary intensity and colours - http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/showima...
