Diamondback Terrapin

Malaclemys terrapin

Description:

Diamondback terrapins are so cool. My friend Nate has one named Shredder. Although having these guys in the pet trade kind of does a number for their conservation numbers. I love the lined patterns on their skin and the lining and bumps on their shell. Gives them so much character.

Habitat:

is a species of turtle native to the brackish coastal swamps of the eastern and southern United States. It belongs to the monotypic genus, Malaclemys. It has one of the largest ranges of all turtles in North America, stretching as far south as Florida Keys and as far north as Cape Cod
