Undersurface is black with 2 white spots looking like a scary mask. Webs up to 2 feet in diameter. Found hanging from a Walnut tree.

KevinHubbard, I go outside everyday rain or shine pretty much and I have seen a few of these, but mostly marbled orb weavers, Black and yellow Garden Spiders and Banded Garden Spiders.
Wow..... I am curious if you have seen many of these this particular year? I live about 30 minutes southeast of you and I have seen a ridiculous amount of these all over the place. I work in veterinary diagnostics, but I also own a window cleaning comapny so I am out on the job helping the guys set up the equipment before I head into my regular job. I have seen more of these spiders this year than i have ever seen in my life. Its like they are taking over eastern PA
Nice spider Carol! It is kinda scary! Here's the spider I told you I'd post -- it's not as similar as I'd originally thought, but I'm pretty sure it's an orb weaver too.

HA! LOL! Great. You saw my scary spider! HA! I want the patch.
Ok Carol, now you got the "Brave girl in the dark night" patch! :-)
This spider is dedicated to Sergio because I went into the scary meadow at dark all by myself and didn't scream. HA! LOL!
