Physomerus grossipes
The sweetpotato bug (Physomerus grossipes) is a species of insect in the family Coreidae. Native to Southeast Asia, the species has immigrated to the Pacific Islands. Frequently laying its eggs on the same Leguminosae and Convolvulaceae plants on which it feeds, the female of P. grossipes is very protective of her young, notably guarding both eggs and nymphs from predators.[1] Brown in color with black legs, individuals grow to be about 2 centimeters (0.79 in) long.[2] Like other Coreidae, P. grossipes is oval-shaped with segmented antennae, a numerously veined forewing membrane, a metathoracic stink gland and enlarged hind tibia.
Hello Agnes. If you are changing your suggestions because they are incorrect, please also delete them. Thank you.
Hi Jolly. I have to change my suggestion from Anoplocnemis to Physomerus grossipes. The latter is the correct ID.
Hi Jolly, here's a similar spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/167....
