These are very similar but much larger (I thought they looked like little mailboxes with the tiny hinged doors).http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/138... I'm guessing, but I suspect they may belong to some kind of moth.

You are right auntnance123, they look more like very small coccoons. I'll change the common name.
