Finally... something that gives the house centipede a run for it's money in the whole 'freak-me-out' department. and it's eating a dead worm it found on the sidewalk.

Habitat:

City sidewalk next to the Don Valley.

Rove beetle for sure, not sure of species, but if the guys at bugguide are leary about putting these into species, I'll settle for Genus. Thanks for your hlep loannis!

I think it belongs to the staphylinidae family but I don't know which species. Maybe it's a larva.
