Description:

Deciduous shrub that is a member of the family Rutaceae, it is closely related to Citrus, and sometimes included in that genus. It differs from citrus in having deciduous, compound leaves and pubescent (downy) fruit. Seedlings are important in citrus growing areas as rootstock for various citrus related species. Flying Dragon is dwarfed in size with highly twisted and contorted stems and long curved thornes.

Notes:

Fruits are highly aromatic. Immature fruits are dried, mature are used medicinally in China. In southern Germany, fruit juice, after 2 weeks storage, is used to make a flavoring syrup, the peel is candied and used as a spice, and is a source of pectin.
