Common Columbine

Aquilegia vulgaris

Description:

Perennial plant native to Europe, flowers can be purple, blue, pink or white. They are interestingly shaped, with "hooks" at the back of the flower. The stems are slightly hairy. Poisonous.

Habitat:

Found this one growing along the side of the road in a residential area in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Notes:

Found these quite a bit in Reykjavik, not sure if it's a garden escapee or not, but they're beautiful either way!
